The social media team at athenahealth came to us with an interesting challenge to create awareness for the 2017 HIMSS Conference that was being held in Orlando, Florida.
Their ask was to create compelling social tile imagery that had a subtle nod to amusement parks, and regionally specific content (think Disney and the Everglades). The central focus was to present like-minded health statistics that would stir up interest not only for athenahealth, but more importantly for the conference.
Initially, they wanted us to utilize an existing icon/illustration style and the primary color palette. We found that it wasn’t hitting the mark from a creative and engaging standpoint.
I was tasked with coming up with a visual style that would add intrigue for athena and the event. I utilized the entire athenahealth primary and secondary color palettes to increase visual interest, as well breaking out of their traditional iconographic mold and introducing simple, fun illustrations of people in striking data driven situations. Additional enhancements of added shadows and “pumping” up the typography helped to really propel these creative images.
These were well-received by the client. In fact, athena’s CEO even chimed in on how impressed he was with the creative direction and its execution.
